Barb, I painted the styrofoam with acrylic craft paint (on the red and green ones) before putting the buttons on. I guess you wouldn't have to, but I just didn't want the white to show through on the colored trees.
Love them. I made some this week and I can attest that button trees are a gift of love because I found it very tedious! Yours came out great, much better than my button trees!
I LOVE these! I have been looking for beaded trees this season. There were a ton of them a few years ago, but I guess they aren't as popular anymore. But the buttons really are cute.
